The staff and leadership at the City of Durham want residents to feel like they belong and be engaged in decision-making. A higher overall quality of life fosters a sense of well-being and community satisfaction, encouraging residents to actively participate in civic life, including elections. Increased feelings of public involvement in local decision making ensures diverse voices are heard, contributing to a more engaged and informed residents. Additionally, reasonable rent costs promote socioeconomic diversity, creating inclusive communities where individuals from various backgrounds can afford to live, fostering a sense of connection and shared responsibility.
