Plant 1,500 trees each year with 85% of newly planted trees in historically underserved neighborhoods.
Analysis
The target was established within the parameters of data obtained from Census Data and the Canopy Study. Target neighborhoods include Old East Durham, Southside and College View, Walltown, Lyon Park, our Downtown, Stratford Lakes, Old West Durham, and the neighborhoods surrounding Weaver Street with the intention of planting 85% of all trees planted, to be planted within those neighborhoods. |
Next Steps
The Department of General Services, and the Division of Urban Forestry will continue to pursue funding opportunities with community partners and within Departmental budgets.
